A great day out in the countryside of Rome, perhaps a little further than your used to going on holiday but you can reach the start point by train. We will bring the bicycles to you at Bracciano train station where after a quick set-up and any changes that need to be made, we head out on the trails that surround the lake to reach Sutri.

This ancient town is perched up high on the tufo rock, caverns and burial tombs lining the carved into the bottom. We cycle through Pine and Beech Forests on a trail running through the Bracciano Regionale Park to reach this enchanting etruscan town.

Tour Details

Starting from our base by the lake Bracciano, we take your luggage to our overnight stop in the Agriturismo TBA where you will spend the night resting after a long day cycling between olive groves and wooded forests. 

This overnight trip to visit the Etruscan Towns of Sutri and TBA focus on culture and life style by including stops en-route for lunch at places tucked away in the Tuscian Hills, a region famous for its woodlands and hazelnuts.  Cycling between

Necropolis of Sutri

Inhabited from antiquity, it is said that Jedus Escariot came from Sutri. This town was founded by the etruscans ontop of a rocky outcrop of tufo which offered protection adn was originally called Sutrium. The inhabitants would dig graves into the rock the town was built on, creating an impressive array of caverns around the base. These would become so extensive  that they would become known as a “necropolis” or City of the Dead. 

Roman Ampitheatre

Carved into the rock that the etruscans used to make the Necropolis, the romans created an outdoor theatre. Enter into the arena from the main gate as if you were onstage, looking up over the seats which are still visibile as rows of ledges carved into the rock. 

Villa Savorelli & Gardens

The palace of a noble family and the remains of the renaissance garden that surround the villa are visibile from the outside. From its position however we are blessed with a great view, from above of the roman ampitheatre.

Regionale Park of Ancient Sutri

A regionale park which surrounds these archeological sites protects the nature from being built on. Its for this reason that we able to cycle around the ampieathre and necropolis on a wooded trail, going over roots and under trees on a mini-adventure.
