Experience a Night in Rome!

Cycle at a time when the crowds and heat are less whilst the visual impact is more as the sun set brings the cold stone to life.

Assail the Aventine Hill to have a view from the Garden of the Oranges, overlooking downtown Rome and a quick peek through the Keyhole of Rome.

Lets Explore Trastevere and its medieval origins as we cycle though cobbled alleys and little side streets, weaving our way under arches until we reach a local bar for a roman aperitif.

Pass the main squares of Campo de Fiori, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon before arriving at Piazza del Popolo.

Aventine Hill

Overlook the Circus Maximus from the Aventine Hill, with the Palace of the Emperors in the background. At the top is the Garden of the Oranges and the Keyhole of the Order of Malta.

Tiberian Island and Trastevere

Below near the river is the medievil quarter known for its food and night life. A quick ride down to the island brings us to this charming neighborhood. Pass by the main square of Santa Maria in Trastevere with its synonymous church.

Aperitivo at Freni e Frizione

Usually an aperitivo (appetizer) is a drink accompanied by some light snacks. Well this local hangout is famous Rome over for its good food and abundant buffett, making it much more than average. Accompanied by your drink of choice obviously!

Historical Center

Pass through the main square of Piazza Navona and Campo di Fiori on our way to the Pantheon. Cycling the historical center is always an experience, filled with people and the unexpected performer.

Cat Forum and Jewish Ghetto

Once a haven for stray cats, rome has now a dedicated area for looking after them. The cat hospice in the roman ruins of Largo Argentina makes good use of an otherwise overlooked archeological area.

On the other side of the road was where the roman jews were historically enclosed by gates put between their buildings and forced to abide by a curfew.

We had a tour with Redbicycle in the end of June and liked it very much, it was our first day in Rome and we saw most of the historic centre and have seen places we wouldn’t have time to see otherwise. we were a family of 6 people. It was a bit busy on the roads with people but we felt safe and it is much easier and faster to cover the distances on the bike in hot weather. Glenn is very knowledgable and helpful and bikes are in very good condition. We had some difficulty finding him because we booked through the website so I think it is better to contact him before the tour.

My family of four had a great evening with a Glenn on the tour of the city. Glenn looked after us well and provided views of several of the cities most famous sites from new angles. The 3 hour ride whizzed by after having covered all the major locations, even finding time for a quick gelato half way through.

Glenn picked a great route which kept us out of the way of traffic for the vast majority of our ride so even if you are not a confident cyclist (like my wife, she won’t mind me saying) you will be able to manage this ride.

The bikes were in good condition and our kids of 10 and 12 had no issues with the distance, the few hills or the negotiating the people on the streets.

Many thanks to Glenn for a great evening.
