Cycling out of the old roman walls and into in the countryside is a thrill in itself but leaving tourists and busy streets behind, you soon forget you are in Rome. A short bicycle ride and we reach the old roman road called The Appian Way. With tombs and pine trees running alongside as well as ancient christian burial grounds and even aqueducts not that far away makes this tour an ideal getaway from your usual tourist trails in Rome. To give you a taste of roman living, we visit a local spring where we organize a picnic lunch and refill our water bottles (provided) with natural spring water. We also stop for a visit of one of the catacombs where you can join a guided tour of the underground chambers.
Go cycling along the Appian Way, an ancient road that runs through the roman countryside and park of the Appia Antica, and see first hand some of Romes most important achievements.
A network of overhead channels bringing thousands of liters of water into ancient Rome every second.
Visit the underground sanctuary of the early christians as they hid from the romans and buried their dead, with 28kms of tunnels spread out over 4 floors.
Stop for a hearty picnic in the Santa Egeria park where there is a natural spring! Fill up your bottles with fizzy water from the spring and enjoy something to eat and drink.
